Statement of a lecturer 2011 to his paper:
- The latest global trends in facility management and how they are reflected in IFMA’s new credentials
In 2009/2010 IFMA conducted a “job task analysis” about the future of their profession as seen by facility managers from 20 different countries around the globe. A major result was the extension of IFMA’s existing list of nine facility management core competencies by another two:
- Environmental stewardship and sustainability
- Emergency preparedness and business continuity
Another outcome was a total rework of IFMA’s CFM (Certified Facility Manager) and FMP (Facility Management Professional) credential exams and related reading material, but the most important was the creation of the new SFP (Sustainability Facility Professional) credential to establish sustainable FM knowledge and business practices.
