Learning outcomes of course unit:
Students should become familiar with the fundamental concepts and characteristics of establishing a company. They will have knowledge of the stages of establishing a company and will be able to identify and discuss the factors of successfully establishing a company using practical examples. They will acquire a basic knowledge of the topics of corporations and entrepreneurship. Skills will be taught concerning ways of thinking and acting in the areas of establishing a company, business planning, finance and marketing. The changed market and environmental conditions in highly integrated and connected markets will be given a basic consideration, and means and method skills will be taught to students. In doing so, current market and environmental conditions in the area of small and medium-sized business will be given special attention to develop a business or an entrepreneur.
Course contents:
Elements of strategic management; instruments of strategic planning (environment analysis, analysis of strengths and weaknesses, scenario technique, Delphi technique, early identification systems, value chains, experience curve, portfolio analysis, benchmarking); strategic planning and strategy models (market orientation vs. resource orientation); general strategy models (portfolio model, Porter model, Ansoff model). The relationship and interaction between the overriding fundamentals of business ethics and organisation of corporate governance will be explained and critically reflected on.
