Borrowing
Borrowing from the library
You can borrow all publications with a white label. However, this does not include dissertations, newspapers, periodicals, audiovisual media and standards. Students, staff members, lecturers or members of the alumni clubs (graduates) of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein or students from other universities and colleges are entitled to borrow publications free of charge.
Other “guests” may borrow publications for an annual fee of €15.
To borrow a publication you will need an FH Kufstein library card, which will be issued upon presentation of a completed user registration form and a valid photo ID (e.g. student card, driving license etc.). By signing the user registration form you accept the Library Regulations and agree to your data being collected electronically for library and lending administration purposes, taking into account the Data Protection Act Art. 22.
The borrowing period for students taking their finals/writing dissertations (graduands) and part-time students is 3 weeks; all other users have 2 weeks. Special conditions apply to public holidays and semester holidays.
A maximum of 5 publications per person can be borrowed at any one time. Exceptions for graduands (10 publications), and guests (4 publications).
Renewals must be made personally online via OPAC.
If the loan period is exceeded the following charges apply:
| 1st reminder | €1 / publication |
| 2nd reminder | + €1 / publication |
| 3rd reminder | + €2 / publication |
| 4th + reminder | + €2 / publication |
NB: Once your fine has reached €7 (guests €5, graduands €11) on the user account you will be excluded from any further borrowing (including reserving & renewing over the internet)!
Renewals
Renewals must be made personally via the online catalog!
This is possible no earlier than 5 days before the expiry of the loan period. Granduands can renew up to 4 times (3 weeks each), all others can extend up to 3 times (2 weeks each).
How to renew:
Open the online catalog website and click on “User ID”. Enter your library ID number (on the back, starting with 9), and your password. The standard password is your date of birth DDMMYY. Then click on “Borrowing”. The books you have taken out are shown here. Click on the “Renew All” button or select the publication you want to renew by clicking on the magnifying glass before each title and then the “renew” button. We recommend noting down the new due date, which will appear under “User Account / Borrowing”.
Returns
A book must be returned by the final day of the loan period, either personally or by a third person.
Should this not be possible, books may be returned by post, in which case liability lies with the user. Pay attention to the delivery time and careful packaging. If the loan period is exceeded, we shall count the return date as the time the publications/publication arrive at the library.
If you fail to return or renew your publications and you receive a reminder, fines will be imposed (for more information see “Borrowing from the library”). You will still be able to renew after receiving a reminder, as long as you remain under the fee limit of €7 (guests €5, graduands €11).
Reservations
You may reserve books which have already been taken out.
First log on to the online catalogue by entering the user number on your library card (starting with 9) and your password (the standard password is your date of birth (DDMMYY). Search for the publication you want and reserve it by clicking on “Inventory”, “Reserve” and then on “OK”). As soon as the book has been returned to us you will be informed by email. The reserved books will be held back on a shelf for you until the date advised by email. Please contact the library team.
