University qualification exams

Qualification exams & preparatory courses

Students without a school-leaving examination (e.g., A-Levels/Abitur/Matura) but with a field-related apprenticeship certificate may begin to study at a university of applied sciences provided they pass the required qualification examinations in Mathematics, German and English within their first year of study. For many of these students – especially as newcomers to the university – the Michelangelo preparatory courses provide the knowledge input and learning support necessary to tackle the exams with confidence. Participation in the German preparatory course is mandatory; participation in the preparatory courses for English and Mathematics is strongly recommended.

Who is required to take the qualification exams?

  • Candidates who have graduated from a 3-year, vocational secondary school or have successfully completed a dual education (apprenticeship relevant to the chosen study program).
  • Candidates who have a German, field-related entrance qualification.

Michelangelo offers a range of examination dates from which candidates may choose. All three qualification exams must be taken and passed by the candidate within his/her first year of study at the FH Kufstein. In both the winter and summer semester three different exam dates for English and Mathematics are offered; exam dates for German are only offered in the summer semester. As soon as a candidate has passed all exams to meet the entrance requirements, he/she is eligible to continue studying. Exam candidates should be aware that the qualification examinations apply only to one’s studies at the FH Kufstein and are not considered to be a generally valid university entrance qualification.

Because the number of seats on each course is limited, registrants are ranked based on the date the payment of the applicable course fee is received by the FH Kufstein. After registration, all communication regarding the course will be made via e-mail. Details for the individual courses – e.g., prerequisites, session dates, course duration, maximum number of participants and lecturers – can be found in the corresponding pdf documents.

We are looking forward to welcoming you as a participant in our program!
