On 22 and 23 September 2017 the FH Kufstein hosted the graduation ceremonies for Bachelor and Master students in the university’s main auditorium.

For students at the FH Kufstein Tirol, graduation day is the highlight of their university career. Many lecturers also attend the ceremony held in the beautifully decorated main auditorium. As in previous years the ceremony was spread over two days to ensure that graduates receive their diploma certificate personally. A total of 1500 guests attended the successful and enjoyable graduation weekend in fine weather.

Joy for graduates and their families

Graduation day was a special occasion not only for the former students themselves but also for their friends and families. “I am very proud. Our son worked so hard at university and passed with excellent grades. It is a great feeling to be able to celebrate with him today,” said Birgit Raich, whose son completed the Master program in Web Communication & Information Systems. Among those enjoying the day was also Emilie Deutinger, grandmother of a Bachelor graduate in Web Business & Technology. “It was a beautiful ceremony. You have to be here and experience it for yourself – it’s impossible to describe,” she commented.

That special feeling of receiving a diploma certificate in its navy blue cover makes up for all those long days at university and nights revising. “The graduation ceremony made me very proud. It was a great experience to be up on the stage in front of everyone and receive the certificate confirming that I have completed by studies. I will celebrate a bit now before it’s time to get back to everyday life,” explained Markus Wiesmüller BSc who was a student of the program Industrial Engineering & Management.

Friendly atmosphere throughout the course

Both full-time and part-time students took the opportunity to reflect on a time full of learning and challenges. Fatma Ertugrul BSc, who completed a Bachelor in Web Business & Technology, held a graduation speech in which she emphasized the atmosphere which she and her fellow students enjoyed during their time at the FH Kufstein Tirol. “One of the most special things about my studies was the friendly atmosphere at the FH Kufstein Tirol. You feel like you are part of one big family,” she said.

Lecturers and guests of honor also in attendance

The seven graduation ceremonies were hosted by university rector Prof. (FH) PD Dr. Mario Döller and vice rector Mag. Diane Freiberger, MBA, who first asked the graduates to swear the traditional oath of allegiance before handing over their certificates. Joining them were guests of honor Mag. Heinz Lechner, mayor of Kufstein Mag. Martin Krumschnabel and chairman of the FH Kufstein founding association Mag. Hannes Bodner, who all addressed words of welcome to the graduates and their families.

“Graduation weekend is always a special occasion. I hold lectures myself, so I am used to speaking in front of people, but every year I get a little nervous before I welcome the graduates to the ceremony. I am pleased to have been able to accompany the students on their personal journeys with us over the last few years and am delighted for every single one of them who is here today,” concluded rector Prof. (FH) PD Dr. Mario Döller.
