International eduroam research network at the FH Kufstein Tirol
Education roaming – the ability to surf the web at all educational institutions in the world. This is the main idea of eduroam. No account, new password or additional confirmation is required. Once set up, users of all participating organizations in currently 79 countries can connect to the WIFI of other organizations, using their normal login credentials.
Major benefits for exchange students
This results in wide-ranging benefits for incoming and outgoing students as well as teachers. Eduroam allows them to go online immediately upon arrival at the partner university without additional administrative burden – no registration is required, no need to wait for access details.
Global connection between research networks
ACOnet is the Austrian National Research and Education Network for institutions in science, research, education and culture. Currently, 200 Austrian organizations are part of ACOnet, including universities, universities of applied sciences, student homes, regional school networks, research institutes, libraries, museums, medical institutions, the Austrian Federal Computing Centre, the Federal Chancellery, ministries, city administrations and many more.
They are connected to the European and international research networks via GÉANT, a pan-European research and education network that offers international connectivity to about 50 million users at more than 10,000 institutions.
All participating countries can be found at https://www.eduroam.org/where.
