UAS student receives the Science Prize of the Tirolean Economic Chamber
Since 1997, the Tirolean Economic Chamber has given out the Science Prize for outstanding diploma and master theses by students from the University of Innsbruck, the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) and FH Kufstein Tirol. Theses that are characterized by a high degree of innovation and directly relevant to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) within the Tirolean economy and received the grade “very good” are awarded annually. 26 theses were submitted this year. Five of these were selected by a jury of entrepreneurs, and the laureates were subsequently honored in a ceremonial setting.
Julia Schroll scored with recommendations for action for the economy
The thesis of the digital Marketing student Julia Schroll dealt with the challenging topic of today’s customer experience management in the alpine destinations of Tirol under the title “Success factors for customer experience in destination management”. Tourists today are much better informed than ever before on account of digitization. Social media and evaluation platforms greatly expand the points of contact of companies with consumers and thereby increase complexity, which in turn leads to an uncertainty factor for companies. The student took on these challenges in her master thesis and developed specific recommendations for action for the local economy. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Alexandra Brunner-Sperdin who was happy that her student received the well-deserved recognition as she also regards the work as highly relevant for the alpine destinations of Tirol.

This year’s laureates were awarded EUR 1,000 each. The laureates include: Jan-Christoph Edelmann, Manuel Ferdik and Thomas Senfter (all University of Innsbruck), Viktoria Steger (MCI) and Julia Schroll (FH Kufstein Tirol). “We need young people like you who invest their time in our joint future – so that humankind, the economy, the environment and nature can co-exist harmoniously. I am especially proud of our cooperation with educational institutes with whom we have been on a joint path for decades,” said President of the Chamber of Commerce Christoph Walser, expressing his gratitude to the university and the universities of applied sciences as he wished the winners continued success and the successful implementation of their ideas.
