Learning outcomes of course unit

• are familiar with the main factors that influence changing market and environmental conditions in strongly interconnected and interacting markets.
• are able to develop basic business strategic ideas that are based on values and committed to a stakeholder approach.
• are able to analyze current market and environmental conditions in the field of small and medium-sized businesses.
• are familiar with the main fundamental entrepreneurial and ethical economic principles and issues, especially in the field of corporate governance.

course contents

Elements of strategic management; tools of strategic planning (environmental analysis, analysis of strengths and weaknesses, scenario technique, Delphi method, early detection systems, value-added chain, experience curve, portfolio analysis, benchmarking); strategic planning and strategy models (market orientation vs. resource orientation); general strategy models (portfolio model, Porter model, Ansoff model). Connection and interrelation to higher principles of business ethics and the design of corporate governance are explained and critically reflected.
