Learning outcomes of course unit

Business English B2.1
In this course students:
- consolidate their level B1 language knowledge and skills.
- acquire basics of level B2.
- develop fundamental business-oriented language knowledge and abilities.

Business English B2.2
In this course students:
- consolidate their level B2 language knowledge and skills.
- learn to apply this language knowledge and skills in more complex business-oriented language situations.
- enlarge their business-oriented vocabulary and knowledge.

Business English B2.3
In this course students:
- achieve the language knowledge and skills necessary for CEFR level B2.
- are able to apply them successfully and professionally in business-related fields.

Business English C1.1
In this course students:
- consolidate their advanced level B2 language knowledge and skills.
- acquire basic knowledge of level C1.
- acquire fundamental business-oriented language knowledge and skills.

Business English C1.2
Students:
- have advanced language knowledge and skills at level C1.
- are able to apply this language knowledge and skills in more complex business-oriented language situations.
- have profound business-oriented vocabulary and knowledge.

Business English C1.3
Students.
- have the entire language knowledge and skills necessary for CEFR level C1.
- are able to apply these in business-oriented fields successfully and professionally.

Spanish / French / Italian / Russian / Chinese / Arabic:
When describing the skills to be acquired during the courses, one has to determine whether or not the students have already acquired knowledge in the selected language before beginning their study program. Considering this, different groups can be organized with objectives corresponding to the skills targets set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR):

Groups with A2 objective: Graduates of this module have acquired the language knowledge and developed the skills necessary for CEFR level A2.
Groups with B1 objective: Graduates of this module have acquired the language knowledge and developed the skills necessary for CEFR level B1.
Groups with B2 objective: Graduates of this module have acquired the language knowledge and developed the skills necessary for CEFR level B2.

Course content
In this course students repeat and build on their level B1 language knowledge and skills in order to be able to develop the language skills necessary for CEFR level B2. Work-related language needs of future graduates are met both by introducing students to business English vocabulary and topics as well as by developing basic business-oriented language knowledge and skills. In this course students build on the language abilities and knowledge acquired in the previous semester in order to further develop their language competence at level B2 and to use it in more complex business-related written and oral situations. Students expand their business vocabulary and knowledge of relevant work-related topics. Please see the Moodle syllabus for detailed information about the course content.

In this course students consolidate their general as well as business-related language skills and knowledge in order to achieve level B2 and apply these skills successfully and professionally in work-related areas. Please see the Moodle syllabus for detailed information about the course content.

assessment methods and criteria

Business English B2.1: 20% participation and intermediate test; 10% listening, 10% reading comprehension; 10% speaking skills; 50% written final exam (grammar, vocabulary and written production)
Business English C1.1: To assess the ILV student performance is considered when the partial tests (reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression, oral expression) and the participation.
Spanish 1/1 French / Italian 1/1 Russian / Chinese 1 / Arabic 1: 20% participation and intermediate test; 10% listening skills; 10% reading comprehension; 10% speaking skills; 50% written final exam (grammar, vocabulary and written production).
