Learning outcomes of course unit

English B2 ********************************* Graduates are able to: - understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization. - express themselves with such a degree of fluency and spontaneity that it is possible hold a normal conversation with native speakers without major difficulties for either party. - produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. English C1 ********************************* Graduates are able to: - understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognize implicit meaning. - express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. - use language effectively and flexibly for social, professional and academic purposes. - write clear, well-structured and detailed texts on complex subjects, showing controlled use of a range of text connectors. Spanish / French / Italian / Russian / Chinese / Arabic A2 ********************************* Graduates are able to: - understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. personal and family information, shopping, employment and local geography). - describe in simple terms aspects of their background and education, immediate environment and matters connected to immediate needs. - communicate in simple and routine situations in general and professional contexts requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Spanish / French / Italian / Russian / Chinese / Arabic B1 ********************************* Graduates are able to: - understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. - deal, both on a language and on an intercultural level, with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. - produce simple, connected texts both on topics which are familiar and on personal and professional areas of interest. - describe experiences, events, hopes and ambitions. - briefly give reasons or explanations for plans and opinions. English B2 ********************************* In this course students consolidate their general as well as business-related language knowledge and skills in order to achieve level B2 and apply these skills successfully and professionally in work-related areas. English C1 ********************************* In this course students consolidate their general as well as business-related language knowledge and skills in order to achieve level C1 and apply these skills successfully and professionally in work-related areas. Spanish / French / Italian / Russian / Chinese / Arabic A2 ********************************* Based on the skills developed during the two previous semesters, students acquire sufficient language knowledge and skills in this course to reach CEFR level A2. Graduates have certain work-related language needs that are met by focusing on respective contents and by tackling a selection of respective topics. Spanish / French / Italian / Russian / Chinese / Arabic B1 ********************************* Based on the language acquisition of the two former semesters, students acquire sufficient language knowledge and develop skills to reach level B1 of CEFR in this course. Work-related language needs are met by focusing on respective contents and by tackling a selection of topics relevant to this field. Spanish / French / Italian / Russian / Chinese / Arabic B1 ********************************* Based on the language acquisition of the two former semesters, students acquire sufficient language knowledge and develop skills to reach level B2 of CEFR in this course. Work-related language needs are met by focusing on respective contents and by tackling a selection of topics relevant to this field. In this course students build on last semester's language acquisition and acquire further language knowledge as well as develop skills for CEFR level B2.
