Students are able to:
 identify current trends in development.
 describe the consequences of these trends for development.
 identify the current challenges of the market and tackle them in product devel-opment.
 analyse the consequences of current trends for products and determine measures.
 identify and derive new marketing opportunities of products and identify the con-sequences
for product development.
 define requirements for new products and develop concept proposals with the methods that
have been learned.

 Methods of a structured development of products using modern tools
 Product development process and the effects of global requirements on this pro-cess
 Changes in the product development process triggered by integrated, global net-works,
technical developments (e.g. sensor technology, web, mobile terminals, smart devices, etc.)
 State of the art methods of product development
 Fundamentals of innovation in product development
 Current, influential trends in product development are presented and discussed in this
course. This ensures that students consolidate knowledge in the respective field of
specialisation with the latest knowledge.
