Learning outcomes of course unit

Students are able to tackle simple problems of management and industrial engineering as mathematical problems. This way they think of mathematical models with adequate mathematical methods from which they draw conclusions; they then use these conclusions when formulating statements about the original problem in everyday language.

Equations: linear equations, quadratic equations, system of linear equations, matrices and determinants
Functions: linear functions, polynomials, trigonometric functions, exponential functions and logarithms
Complex figures and functions
Vector analysis
Differential calculus in one variable: derivation rules, curve tracing, exercises with extreme values, Taylor series, Newton’s method
Differential calculus in various variables: exercises with extreme values with and without constraints
Integral calculus in one variable: fundamental theorem of integral calculus, integration techniques, technical applications, improper integrals, numerical integration
