Learning outcomes of course unit

Students will:
know the structure and content of Austrian private law;
know the structure and content of Austrian commercial and corporate law.

This lecture aims to provide economists with the necessary insight into the the structure and content of private, commercial, and corporate law.
Emphasis here is placed on general private law, though insight will also be provided on the structure of special private law.
The lecture will also provide an overview of all business forms used in Austria and sections of commercial law, including the law of unfair competition, insolvency law as well as an introduction to internet law. Students will learn about competition-relevant issues and know the legal consequences.
Insolvency law addresses first and foremost the risk potential of other business relationships and presents the opportunities available in debt relief.
