Stefan Klebensberger

Graduate year 2012

  • Which expectations did you have before you started the Sport, Culture and Event Management study program at the FH Kufstein Tirol?
I was expecting a mixture of theory and practice – and that is what I got! After working for almost ten years, I did not want to give up my job. That’s why I decided to study part-time. My long-term aim was to work freelance in the events sector, so this study program was perfect for me. It was important to me to develop a broad range of knowledge and hands-on expertise in order to be able to work in this field.
  • Do you think there is a good balance between the demands of the study program and the support given to students?
Yes, I think so. It is always a challenge to study part-time on top of a demanding job, especially as Kufstein is around 250km from where I live and work. During the three years when I was studying I had to plan and organize a lot – that didn’t leave much time for friends and family.
  • Did the personal relationship between students and lecturers help you with your learning process?
Yes, definitely! The relationship between students and lecturers was always a very good one, almost like between friends. The lecturers always had time to listen to our questions, worries and wishes.
  • Did the semester abroad help you develop your skills, both on a professional and a personal level?
Because I chose to study part-time, I did not have to and would not have been able to spend a semester abroad. The study trip to Athens was a great experience for all the members of the group.
  • Does your current job you match the job you had hoped for before starting your studies?
Absolutely YES. While I was still studying at the FH Kufstein Tirol I founded my own event agency, which has been a great success. I also manage the project office of a town in eastern Bavaria focusing on urban development and marketing. And on top of that, I still work part-time in the job I had when I started studying.
  • Would you recommend the Sport, Culture and Event Management study program to friends?
Yes. I would most definitely recommend the Sport, Culture and Event Management study program.
