Learning outcomes of course unit
Students should get clear understanding of recent
development, structure and trends of sustainability in the international context.
Students can assess national development programs as realization of goals, targets and indicators of the UN sustainable development goals.
Students get knowledge of key facts of the application of Renewable Energy Systems.
Students receive an overview over new trends in the energy business to enhance efficiency and to decarbonize the generation.

course contents
Students receive an overview of the most important terms and principles of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. They will check national programs of support Renewable Energies concerning their contribution to goals and targets of the SDGs. Investigation of yearly reports give an insight and a forecast for the achievement of that objectives. Especially concerning the targets of improving Renewable Energy Systems and of enhancing energy efficiency the recourses and integration into infrastructure and energy markets will be discussed. Students will be faced with new technological trends like sector coupling and smart cities visiting some demonstration labs in the region.
