Learning outcomes of course unit
The students will acquire detailed knowledge in the fields of media compression, media annotation and media adaptation as well as of the predominant standards in this area and will be able to apply their knowledge profitably.
Furthermore, they will acquire knowledge of and experience with the application of media servers, streaming audio visual data via the Internet and, in particular, digital television.
prerequisites and co-requisites
In this advanced course, carrying on from ¿Media Technology I¿, further media technology topics will be addressed. These will focus on the following: multimedia standards (coding, compression and meta data), adaptation and annotation of media, streaming audio-visual data, biometric processes, multimedia forensics, geo-visualization, media servers, digital television (MHB, HbbTV, Internet TV, DLNA).
In the exercise component of the course the theoretical content acquired in the lecture component will be illustrated using practical examples and implemented within the context of a small project to be completed in a team.
