Learning outcomes of course unit

Once this course has been completed the students will have detailed knowledge of security concepts on the client and server sides and on the transport level for web applications.
The students will learn about the most important cryptographic processes both in theory and practice and will be able to apply these specifically in a web environment. Continuing from there, the students will acquire detailed knowledge of current methods of attack and how to avoid them in various web application areas (e.g. e-commerce).

course contents

In this course, instruction is given in basic topics in the area of media and the web. Emphasis is placed on the following: media fundamentals (script, pixels / vector graphics, video, audio); media presentation and embedding on the web with standards (SMIL, SVG, HTML5, 3D, etc.) and proprietary systems (Flash, etc.); multimedia applications and services: services for individual communication (e.g. IP telephony, video conferencing technique, collaborative media) and for mass communication (e.g. WebRadio, WebTV).
In the exercise component of the course the theoretical content acquired in the lecture component will be illustrated using practical examples and implemented within the context of a small project to be completed in a team.
