Participants of the BDU Summer Conference 2025 on the Wochenbrunner Alm near Ellmau - an atmospheric finale with a view of the Wilder Kaiser.
The University of Applied Siences Kufstein Tirol hosted the BDU Summer Conference 2025, where experts discussed current trends in restructuring, transformation and reorganisation. The conference was organised together with the Institute for Cross-Border Restructuring.
On 27 and 28 June 2025, this year's summer conference of the Association of Corporate Restructuring in the Federal Association of German Management Consultants (BDU) took place at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. The event, organised in collaboration with the Institute for Cross-Border Restructuring at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol under the direction of Prof. (FH) Dr Markus Exler, brought together leading experts from academia and practice to discuss current developments and challenges in the areas of transformation, restructuring and reorganisation.
The content of the two-day conference was based on the principles of proper corporate restructuring (GoU) presented by the BDU professional association in March 2025. The speakers' contributions covered a wide range of topics - from start-up integration into corporate groups, digital business models and out-of-court restructuring to international comparisons of restructuring guidelines and the influence of new technologies such as IoT and artificial intelligence.
INSIGHT INTO THE PROGRAMME:
- Integrating start-ups into corporates - Johannes Pracher
- Monetising data as a business model - Dr. Stefan Wolpert
- Principles for out-of-court restructurings in Austria - Gabriele Schiemer

A special highlight was the evening together at the Wochenbrunner Alm in Ellmau, which provided space for in-depth discussions and networking in a relaxed atmosphere.
SCIENTIFICALLY SOUND - PRACTICALLY NETWORKED
The conference once again emphasises the role of the Institute for Cross-Border Restructuring as a bridge between science, business and law in German-speaking countries. The Institute has an interdisciplinary structure and deals with issues relating to corporate reorganisation, insolvency law, financing and transformation processes - always with a cross-border perspective between Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
The next trade association conference will take place on 20th and 21st November 2025 in Fulda.
