As part of the Tyrolean Young Researcher Funding Program (TNF), several promising projects by young scientists were awarded. Researchers from the FH Kufstein Tirol were also pleased to receive funding for their innovative projects.

The research funding of the state of Tyrol is once again supporting promising projects by young scientists from the region. As part of the Tyrolean Young Researcher Funding (Tiroler Nachwuchsforscher:innenförderung, TNF), 56 young researchers were awarded a total of 1.1 million euros in funding this year. Among them are five researchers from the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol, who are making a valuable contribution to scientific development with their innovative projects. The funding approval was presented on January 27, 2025 during a ceremony in the “Festsaal” (Festivities Hall) of the “Landhaus” (State Palace) in Innsbruck.

TOP CONDITIONS FOR YOUNG SCIENTISTS

With TNF, the state of Tyrol aims to further increase the quality of research and performance at Tyrolean higher education institutions. The selection of funded projects is carried out by the Tyrolean higher education institutions on the basis of external assessments. This ensures that promising and forward-looking research projects receive the best possible support.

THE OUTSTANDING PROJECTS OF THE KUFSTEIN TIROL UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES IMPRESSIVELY DEMONSTRATE THE POTENTIAL OF OUR YOUNG SCIENTISTS.

“The Tyrolean funding program for young researchers is an essential instrument for supporting young talent in their scientific careers and sustainably strengthening the innovative power of the state. The award-winning projects of the FH Kufstein Tirol impressively demonstrate the potential of our young scientists,” emphasizes Prof. (FH) Dr. Mario Döller, rector of the university of applied sciences.

DIVERSITY OF RESEARCH AT THE FH KUFSTEIN TIROL

Five researchers from the Kufstein Uni received funding approval for their groundbreaking projects at TNF:

  • Lukas Hartleif, MA is researching Generation Z's perception of artificial intelligence and its significance for the working world of tomorrow.
  • Franziska Boroviczény, MA is developing a simplified ESG controlling concept to motivate unlisted SMEs to voluntarily report on sustainability.
  • Quentin Hirtl, BSc is investigating the additive manufacturing of metallic materials using Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) and its potential for small-format applications.
  • Lea Carnuth, MA, and Selina-Maria Schiller, MSc analyze the allocation of resources in hospitality organizations to increase resilience and sustainability.

The research projects cover a wide range of topics and contribute to scientific progress in various disciplines.

NEXT TENDER ROUND LAUNCHED

The next round of applications for the Tyrolean Young Researcher Funding is expected to run from February 1 to March 15, 2025. Interested young scientists can apply with their innovative research projects during this period. Further information can be found in the TNF guidelines.
