Students from the International Business Management program visited Sparkasse Kufstein to gain direct insights into practical applications as part of a workshop.
What will the bank of the future look like? Students at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol explored this question on site at Sparkasse Kufstein. After gaining insights into the development of the bank, they analyzed real management challenges - from employer branding to the branch of 2030 - and presented innovative solutions.
In February 2026, students enrolled in the part-time bachelor's degree program in International Business Management visited Sparkasse Kufstein as part of an excursion and took an in-depth look at the future of banking. After an exciting introduction to the bank's success story and development over the years, the students also gained insights into the financial institution's strategic orientation. Human resources manager Hannes Widmann presented four key areas for the future that will have a lasting impact on banking:
- Demographic change & knowledge retention: Securing expertise within the company for the long term
- Employer branding: Attracting and retaining young talent in a targeted manner
- Branch 2030: Shaping the future of consulting between digital service and personal support
- Sustainability: Credibly implementing regional responsibility
The students were then challenged to apply their knowledge. They analyzed real management challenges, developed practical solutions, and presented their ideas on site - an opportunity to combine theory and practice firsthand.
In the workshop with Hannes Widmann, students gained insights into the practical workings of Sparkasse Kufstein.
THEORY MEETS PRACTICE: CONCEPTS FOR THE STORE OF 2030
Working in small groups, the students developed specific measures – from innovative recruiting channels to concepts for intergenerational knowledge transfer. The discussions about the branch in 2030 were particularly exciting, providing many new ideas on how Sparkasse can fulfill its regional responsibility in the digital age. The teams then presented their findings directly to the HR management and discussed their approaches in depth.
A WIN-WIN SITUATION
The intensive exchange was extremely insightful for both Sparkasse Kufstein and the students. The insights into practical applications and the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge directly to real business cases made the excursion a valuable experience for everyone involved.
