The project partners are convinced that sustainable mobility can make an important contribution to creating an environmentally friendly and economically efficient future for the Euregio Inntal.

The Kufstein University and the Logistik-Zentrum-Prien receive funding for the cross-border project as part of the INTERREG program. Together with companies, the partners are developing a concept for sustainable mobility in the border region.

Mobility plays a particularly important role in the Euregio Inntal. The aim here is to find a cross-border, regionally sensible, environmentally friendly and resident-friendly solution to reduce the volume of traffic. Thanks to the funding, a further contribution to the future-oriented shaping of the mobility transition can now be made in the area between Bavaria and Tyrol over the course of a year, regardless of the supra-regional challenges in the area of transport and mobility that the region is facing.

At a time when various forms of mobility and alternative drive systems as well as climate protection are becoming increasingly important, both companies and municipalities are facing the challenge of providing feasible solutions for various mobility options for employees and customers. The design options for supplier transport and the focus on alternative drive systems for company fleets and the associated investments and energy requirement calculations are also current topics.

SUSTAINABLE TRAFFIC DESIGN IN COMMERCIAL AREAS IN THE BORDER REGION

The project partners University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol and Logistik-Kompetenz-Zentrum (LKZ) Prien have therefore set themselves the goal of working together with the participating municipalities and local companies to develop a cross-border roadmap for the sustainable design of transport and mobility for industrial estates in the border region. The project is supported by the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, the Rosenheim district economic development agency, Kufstein:mobil and the two municipalities of Langkampfen and Kiefersfelden.

The project partners are convinced that sustainable mobility can make an important contribution to creating an environmentally friendly and economically efficient future for the Euregio Inntal. Prof. (FH) Dr. Mario Döller, Rector of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol, is looking forward to “being able to integrate the experience from the Josef Ressel Center Vision2Move into the implementation of this project in addition to the exchange with mobility stakeholders.”

CROSS-BORDER EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE

“Through our partnership with the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol and the project partners involved, we want to work together with the two municipalities of Kiefersfelden and Langkampfen and the companies based there to find solutions to shift commercial traffic, avoid it and adapt the remaining traffic more sustainably or switch to alternative drive technologies with the associated charging infrastructure and forms of mobility,” explains Dr. Petra Seebauer, Managing Director of LKZ Prien GmbH. “The cross-border exchange of experience offers particular added value here in order to drive forward the necessary transformation of the region towards greater sustainability and compliance with climate protection requirements.”

Esther Jennings, Managing Director of Euregio Inntal, summarizes: “This project is another important step towards sustainable mobility in our border region. This project partnership provides good conditions for optimal implementation.”
