Start of the journey in Carinthia.

Prof. (FH) Kurt Hoffmann has fulfilled a heartfelt wish at the end of his many years of teaching at the FH Kufstein Tirol: an international course - combined with a very special journey.

As part of an International Week at the INSEEC BBA in Lyon and Bordeaux, Prof. (FH) Kurt Hoffmann led a workshop on Ethical Leadership - Cultivating a Corporate Responsible Culture in March 2025. In his interactive lectures, he combined his field of specialization in accounting with questions of ethical corporate management - and thus opened up new perspectives on central conflicts of objectives between the pursuit of profit, social responsibility and sustainable action.

“I deliberately wanted to choose a topic for my degree that went beyond the traditional course content,” says Hoffmann. Starting with the areas of tension between shareholder interests and management responsibility, he succeeded in building a bridge to current social challenges. The students - many of whom have an international background - were open, keen to discuss and very interested.

A ROAD TRIP AS A CONSCIOUS ALTERNATIVE

The journey there and back was also special: Hoffmann did not travel by plane, but instead embarked on a decelerated road trip in a caravan and private car. “For me, that was the ideal way to travel,” he says. “I could take breaks along the way, take my time - and make the journey itself part of the experience.” He was on the road for a total of three weeks - from March 4 to 21, 2025.

A REAL HIGHLIGHT AT THE END OF MY MANY YEARS OF TEACHING

Prof. (FH) Kurt Hoffmann

Hoffmann had been carrying the idea of a lecture abroad with him for many years. After numerous international contacts and excursions - for example to the Baltic region - the opportunity finally presented itself to turn this vision into reality. The project was also made possible by the support of the International Relations Office (IRO) and other departments at the FH Kufstein Tirol. “Without this support, this special chapter would not have been possible,” emphasizes Hoffmann. And he adds: “A real highlight at the end of my many years of teaching on the International Business Studies degree program, in which internationality has always been a central element.”

A WORTHY CONCLUSION

This teaching adventure closes a circle: internationality, reflection and professional depth have characterized Hoffmann's work at the FH Kufstein Tirol for 24 years. The workshop in France was not only highly praised by the students, but also by the organizer of the International Week. “It was an all-round successful conclusion,” says Hoffmann. And what happens now? In retirement, he is looking forward to new projects - including gardening, collecting herbs and more trips around Europe in his caravan.
