International students explored the fortress on the night watchman tour.

International bachelor's and master's students at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol took a deep dive into local history in mid-November 2025. As part of the Connect program, they went on guided tours of the city of Kufstein - two exciting excursions full of legends, secrets and unforgettable moments.

As part of the Connect Program at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol, international students took advantage of two special opportunities in mid-November 2025 to experience the city of Kufstein and its history first-hand. On 18 November, the group started with an atmospheric night watchman tour – fully booked, full of legends and accompanied by the feeling of being transported to another time. Just two days later, on 20 November, there was a guided tour of the fortress, which gave the historic walls a new look during the day and also revealed exciting facts and hidden details.

THE FORTRESS AT NIGHT – A MYSTICAL EXPERIENCE

For about an hour, the students were guided through the historic old town by an experienced tour guide dressed in a traditional night watchman's costume. The tour shed light on life in the Middle Ages, showed how the city functioned at that time - even at night - and explained the important role of the night watchman in the past.

Within the walls of the fortress, participants listened to exciting stories, discovered hidden corners, and learned about local legends that brought the history of Kufstein to life. The nighttime setting enhanced the atmosphere and offered students an authentic, intense cultural experience.

For many international students, the tour was not only an opportunity to get to know their new home town, but also to network with each other, deepen their cultural understanding and build a sense of community.

CONNECT PROGRAM: TOGETHER INSTEAD OF SIMPLY SIDE BY SIDE

The Connect Program is an initiative launched by the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol in September 2025. Its aim is to support new bachelor's and master's students from abroad when they arrive in Kufstein. The project also helps with important organizational issues such as documents, finding accommodation and settling into the new environment. At the same time, it promotes togetherness through joint activities such as international dinners, guided tours of Kufstein Fortress and city tours.
