The climate simulation workshop has many positive effects, one of which is the realization of the participants that even complex problems can be solvable and that we can make a difference when it comes to climate change.
En-ROADs climate simulation: What do you want your future to look like in the face of climate change? This workshop, part of the Energy & Sustainability Management program, is often booked by secondary schools to show students the scope for action in the face of climate change.
The University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol offers the FH Workshop Academy as part of the fh4Schools program for high school students (minimum age 15 years). One of the courses is dedicated to the climate crisis. With the help of the EnROADs simulator, students discover how our way of life will affect climate change up to the year 2100. However, the simulator also shows possibilities and opportunities for positively shaping the future.
THE CLIMATE SIMULATOR FROM THE INTERNET
With the online climate simulation En-ROADs, you can make the most important adjustments that influence the global temperature increase. What needs to happen to make our planet habitable and the consequences of climate change manageable for future generations? Which global measures influence climate change to such an extent that the temperature increase is limited and the two-degree target by the end of the century is possible? From a range of possible measures, the students select those that seem important and feasible to them. In doing so, they playfully represent the positions of various interest groups, such as the renewable energy lobby, agriculture or established industry.
FOCUS ON BASICS AND COMMUNICATION
“With just a few facts about the greenhouse effect, you can explain the many ways in which the climate crisis affects our daily lives. We want to introduce students to the topic and show them that a degree program at a university of applied sciences is about practical application. Communicating difficult topics in a controversial environment is one of the core competencies involved,” says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Woyke, Professor of Energy Management at the Kufstein University.
To The FH Workshop Academy
The FH Workshop Academy has set itself the goal of taking contemporary and exciting content that can be useful to every student and casting it in a workshop format that combines hands-on quality and direct applicability. In half-day to full-day workshops, young people are given a comprehensive and interesting insight into selected subject areas of the bachelor's degree programs at the Kufstein University. There is a wide range of topics on offer.
