Insights into the media lab during the online live interview with expert and guest speaker Ingrid Pabinger, moderated by EXPOnline's Severin Heidelberger.
At EXPOnline, students of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Sports, Culture and Event Management provided exciting insights into their practical projects. In the livestream, interested parties and fellow students from other semesters were able to follow along and gather valuable inspiration about the experiences that await them.
At the end of January, EXPOnline successfully presented a total of 25 practical projects from the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Sports, Culture & Event Management (SCEM) and Sports, Culture & Event Management (SCEM) from the winter semester 2024/25. The event was livestreamed from the Media Lab of the Kufstein Uni and organized by a group of four students. Selected SCEM practical projects were presented and discussed in live interviews about the challenges and opportunities they presented. The students also welcomed guest speaker Ingrid Pabinger, who, as an event expert, shared her experiences in the industry and gave professional advice.
Selected practical projects & guest speaker in the livestream
During the 60-minute livestream, the project videos of the eight selected practical projects were presented and discussed in subsequent interviews. The approximately 120 participants in the livestream learned, among other things, how the Table Tennis Tournament was creatively implemented and what experiences were made with Green Events Tirol. It was determined that an award for Green Events in a certified location such as the FH Kufstein Tirol is less expensive than often thought.
The Kubinight practical project showed that the target group of 12- to 14-year-olds is a challenge, but that knowledge can be conveyed in a fun and exciting way with creative and interactive ideas such as scavenger hunts, on-site interviews with athletes, a Wii station and the ICAROS, a training device that enables virtual flights with the help of VR glasses. The KufTrail-UAM 2025 group reported on the excellent cooperation with Unisport Austria and the task of organizing a trail run in Kufstein from scratch, both as the official Austrian University Championship in trail running and as a running event for the general public. As a special advertising measure, the project group highlights an info tour to universities throughout Austria.
Further project videos were shown of Kufstein Darts Games, Castle Cup, Hechtsee Open Air and wine tasting.
Growing together: when students share their practical knowledge
This gave students in other semesters who are planning, organizing and implementing their own practical projects in the future a good insight into the procedures involved in the SCEM practical projects and the opportunity to learn from the experiences of their predecessors.
The livestream concluded with an interview with Ingrid Pabinger, founder and managing director of PI Iventagentur and event manager at the Panzerhalle in Salzburg. She talked about how she got into the event industry from the catering industry and the challenges she faced at the beginning. There are no limits to what customers want, and as an event manager, you should always trust that you can make it happen. As a tip for starting a career, she advised not to be too good for anything and not to give up: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams”.
