In mid-March, a kick-off meeting of the Hydrogen Community of Vocational Excellence project (H2CoVE) took place in Bergen, Norway. The main aim is to equip the European workforce with the necessary skills for industries in the emerging value chains of a hydrogen economy.
Tyrol, Vestland in Norway, Northern Netherlands, Estonia and Ukraine are among the five emerging regions of the H2CoVE project. These regions are pooling their knowledge and expertise to build local hydrogen ecosystems. The enormous need for investment in infrastructure for the production, storage and applications of hydrogen requires a good skilled workforce. The partner regions have diverse know-how and specializations along the hydrogen value chain. The cooperation within the H2CoVE project will build capacity across Europe.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE H2COVE PROJECT
H2CoVE aims to
- Connect and engage citizens, educational and research institutions and businesses at European level through a specially designed platform to promote continuous knowledge exchange and innovation in the areas of hydrogen capabilities
- improve the necessary knowledge and skills among students, employees and potential workers for basic and advanced applications of the hydrogen economy
- Develop, update and test courses, modules and educational programs that meet the needs of industry in the partner regions at different levels of vocational training in an inclusive manner
- To ensure European added value and sustainability for project results by embedding and transferring best practices between regions and ecosystems across Europe.
TIROL'S PROJECT PLANS
In Tyrol, the consortium consists of FEN Research, Klasse!Forschung, HTL Kramsach and Kufstein University. Over the next four years, the project aims to involve 150 teachers in train-the-trainer courses, attract around 800 stakeholders from the business sector, have 1,000 employees participate in further training and retraining activities and involve 140 students in a specially designed competition for problem-based learning. At least twelve project, bachelor's or master's theses will be written on real challenges in the sector.
The H2CoVE project brings together a total of 25 partners from different sectors and regions who are working together to strengthen the European hydrogen economy. This broad partnership makes it possible to build a comprehensive network of experts, educational institutions, companies and government agencies to effectively achieve the project's objectives and advance hydrogen technologies at European level.
