The participants at the international conference discussed topics such as materials science and nanotechnologies.
Two lecturers from Kufstein University took part in the International Summit on Materials Science and Nanoscience (ISMSN2023) & International Summit on Power and Energy Engineering (ISPEE2023) conference in Lisbon and presented topics from their research work. One of them also chaired the event.
The ISMSN is an international conference that brings together researchers, experts and specialists to discuss materials science and nanotechnologies. Two professors from the Industrial Engineering & Management and Smart Products & Solutions (new: Smart Products & AI-driven Development) degree programs at Kufstein University, Prof. (FH) Dr. Ing. Christian Schmid and Michael Petke MA, took part in the ISMSN2023 conference in Lisbon and presented topics from their research work. Christian Schmid also chaired the event.
EXPERTISE OF THE KufsTein University ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE
As Chair of ISMSN2023, Christian Schmid led through the diverse program with profound expertise and presented an innovative approach of his research focus on the topic of Multi Process Hybrid 3D-Printing Approach. His presentation not only offered a comprehensive insight into the research team of the Industrial Additive Manufacturing department at Kufstein University, but also into the broad spectrum of topics. Among the speakers was Michael Petke, who presented his research on the solder casting of electrical powerlines. On this day, speakers from ten nations presented a diverse repertoire of research work, ranging from the use of nanomaterials in fire protection to the sustainability assessment of various plastics.
FOCUS ON ENERGY INNOVATION
The second day of the International Summit on Power and Energy Engineering was chaired by Professor Geoffrey Robert Mitchell from Marinha Grande and offered insights into pioneering research results such as energy recuperation, energy-saving coating technologies and innovative manufacturing processes.
The conference days were characterized by intensive discussions and numerous opportunities for personal exchange, which significantly expanded the network of the Kufstein University. The close contact with Professor Geoffrey Mitchell gave Christian Schmid the opportunity to present his research topics to a group of experts from the renowned CDRSP - Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria in Marinha Grande - in an online research colloquium. The aim is to intensify cooperation in order to open up new horizons together.
