- Practical Project

The students developed various solution concepts to optimize interfaces and accelerate project execution at 3CON Anlagenbau GmbH.
Students of the IBS degree program at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol worked with 3CON Anlagenbau on innovative solutions to shorten project times. From AI-supported tools to AR assistance systems, practical approaches were developed that are now being tested in pilot phases.
In the winter semester of 2024/25, students in the full-time bachelor's degree program in International Business Studies worked on an exciting practical project at 3CON Anlagenbau GmbH in Ebbs, one of the leading tool and plant manufacturers for the automotive industry. The goal was to shorten the typical project duration through improved interface management.
The students began by taking stock of the company and examining its existing structures. They conducted numerous interviews with employees and incorporated industry-wide benchmarks. Six small groups then developed concrete solution approaches, ranging from digitalization and AI-supported meeting protocols to optimized sales processes.

PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS FOR NOTICEABLE TIME SAVINGS
During the project, the students remained in close contact with 3CON's project and team leaders. This enabled them to continuously adapt their ideas to company-specific requirements and ensure that the new concepts could be seamlessly integrated into existing procedures. The range of proposals included structured communication routines, augmented reality assistance systems and standardized qualification matrices.
Particular attention was paid to ensuring that the solution was easy to use and could be implemented globally, so that it would work smoothly not only in Ebbs but also at other 3CON locations. The aim of all the measures was to reduce frictional losses at the interfaces and thereby noticeably accelerate the process from project initialization to machine delivery.
POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND VALUABLE INSIGHTS
In the final presentations to employees and the CEO Managing Directors, the students received nothing but positive feedback. “We are impressed by the realism and maturity of the concepts. The proposed measures offer us clear approaches for further optimizing our processes,” emphasized Dipl.-Ing. Georg Kapfinger, COO of 3CON.
The students also benefited greatly from the program by applying their theoretical knowledge in a real business environment and gaining valuable insights into the procedures of an internationally operating industrial company.
At 3CON, some of the proposed measures are now being tested in pilot phases – and the students are gaining valuable expertise and new motivation for their next career goals from this collaboration.
