Start of the Wings for Life World Run – App Run Innsbruck-Hofgarten with around 400 participants.

Around 400 participants ran or rolled for a good cause on May 4, 2025, at the Wings for Life World Run in Innsbruck's Hofgarten. Students from the FH Kufstein Tirol organized the event and gained valuable experience in event management.

At this year's Wings for Life World Run on 4th May in Innsbruck's Hofgarten, there were not only around 400 sporty participants at the starting line – students from the FH Kufstein Tirol were also right in the thick of things. They took on key organisational tasks and gained valuable practical experience in event management.

The Wings for Life World Run is a unique global charity event that connects people around the world at the same time for a good cause: finding a cure for spinal cord injury. What's particularly remarkable is that 100% of the entry fees and donations go directly to international spinal cord research.

KICK-OFF FOR A GOOD CAUSE

The starting signal was given at 13 o'clock in Innsbruck – but without a finish line. Instead, a virtual catcher car tracked the runners via an app and ended the race individually as soon as it caught up with someone. A barrier-free route was provided for wheelchair users, while the remaining participants completed a lap through the Hofgarten park.

Away from the running track, a varied supporting program ensured a great atmosphere and provided additional motivation. A joint warm-up, rousing music, delicious snacks, and cool drinks were among the highlights of the day. Those who wanted to try their luck could take part in the raffle or let off steam with a round of spikeball. After the run, the recovery zone was the ideal place to relax and recharge your batteries.

VALUABLE EXPERIENCE AND REAL CHALLENGES

For the students at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences, organizing the Wings for Life World Run in Innsbruck was more than just a practical project – it was an intensive learning experience. From the initial concept to the last task on the day of the event, it was important to assume responsibility and work as a team. Dealing with unforeseen challenges, tight schedules, and coordinating with various partners challenged the team time and again. At the same time, the project offered the opportunity to surpass themselves.

The team's commitment to this international charity project impressively demonstrated how practical learning and social responsibility can be successfully combined.
