A total of 19 teams from Austria and Germany competed against each other at the second Roundnetcup Kufstein.
19 teams from Austria and Germany competed against each other in the new fast-paced trend sport. Various tournament modes ensured exciting matches. Those present were also able to enjoy sporting activities away from the nine pitches.
In June, a total of 19 teams from Austria and Germany competed against each other in an exciting tournament at the Grenzlandstadion in Kufstein. Six students from the Sport, Culture & Event Management degree program at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol planned the competition as part of a practical project and on behalf of the Kufstein Genussmittel association, bringing the new trend sport to Kufstein once again. Roundnet is a fast-paced sport in which two teams of two players stand around a round, stretched net. Each team tries to hit the ball onto the net so skillfully that the opponents make a mistake.
DIFFERENT TOURNAMENT MODES FOR DIFFERENT LEVELS
The teams were able to put their skills to the test on a total of nine nets in the Grenzlandstadion Kufstein. The participants registered in advance for the tournament in one of three categories: beginner, intermediate and professional, with the professionals competing in their own cup and the beginners and intermediates in a joint tournament mode. After the first rounds of play, this was divided into the Gold Cup and the Silver Cup. Of the 19 teams, six professional, four intermediate and nine beginner teams registered.
VARIED SUPPORTING PROGRAM
In addition to the main tournament, there were also plenty of attractions away from the pitches. Visitors were able to try out the sport in a try-out zone on the artificial turf and the teams warmed up on the roundnet. Attendees also had the opportunity to play a round of soccer tennis, Crossnet Vollexball and Kan Jam. The Grenzlandstadion canteen opened its kitchen especially for the occasion and provided the hungry athletes with drinks and selected dishes. The Genussmittel association rounded off the culinary offerings with refreshing drinks. Red Bull was also on site and provided background music with a DJ desk and sound box. Those who needed a break could relax in deckchairs in the chill-out area.
