The academic program, the opportunity to gain practical experience and the geographical location are decisive criteria for choosing Kufstein University of Applied Sciences.
The University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol conducted an anonymous survey among its first-year and final-year cohorts of bachelor's and master's students and gained valuable insights into their reasons for choosing the university.
With a 37% response rate, the survey organized in the spring of 2024 was aimed at first-year and final-year bachelor's and master's students. It was reassuring to see that the survey results were in line with the assumptions of the university. The main reasons for choosing the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein as a place to study were its academic programs, the opportunity to gain practical experience, as well as the university’s geographical location. The students in the survey rated these criteria as the most important, with first-year students rating the factor cost of the degree as less important than students in higher semesters. This could indicate that the financial burden becomes more of a focus as students progress in their studies.
Student expectations and satisfaction
The answers to the open questions showed that, for many students, the option to study while working was an important factor in their decision. The match between personal interests and the academic degrees offered also played a decisive role in many respondents’ choice of university. Recommendations from acquaintances and the prospect of a high-quality education with a business focus were further important factors. Many students emphasized the high quality of teaching and the excellent support provided by the lecturers. In addition, the wide range of international exchange programs and the modern campus facilities were rated highly. "Recommendations are undoubtedly the best advertisement for us," says Prof. (FH) Dr. Thomas Madritsch, CEO Managing Director of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. "We are proud that our students truly appreciate the quality of academic teaching and the support they receive from lecturers. This positive feedback encourages us in our continuous efforts to offer a high-quality and practice-oriented education."
