In their practical project, the students developed suggestions for improving the website of the Tyrolean Wind Music Association.

Students of the bachelor's degree program Web Business & Technology revise the structure and usability of the website based on a needs analysis as well as a survey and structural analysis.

The main aim of the practical project in the full-time bachelor's degree program in Web Business & Technology (now: Coding & Digital Design) was to improve the usability and structure of the website of the Tyrolean Wind Music Association. To this end, the students carried out a target group-specific usability and needs analysis of the existing website, including a survey of users. Based on the findings, the project team developed concrete proposals, which were presented in a comprehensive documentation.

DIVISION OF THE GROUP INTO TWO PROJECT TEAMS

Due to the expansion of the requirements for the project, the team of six was divided into two groups: Usability and Survey as well as Structural Analysis and Sitemap. The first team assumed responsibility for conducting the usability study and creating the survey. The team worked out the 19 questions together and the procedure was agreed with the project coach. The second team carried out a needs analysis in order to work out the new structure of the website. The new sitemap was created on the basis of an internal team analysis, the results of the survey and Google Analytics statistics, which were provided to the project team by the client. The second team also took care of the design, both the documentation and the presentations of the project results.

DEMOCRATIC WORKING METHOD

The project team held regular online meetings with their project coach, Prof. (FH) Dr. Johannes Lüthi, to discuss current progress and democratically determine future steps. This ensured that the project was progressing in the right direction. Tickets were created and expenses were booked by the relevant team members after consultation. At the final handover of the project results in July 2023, each team member gave a final presentation on the relevant part of the project. The two teams worked closely together to achieve the goals set. Thanks to the intensive cooperation with clients and the consideration of the results of the usability study, valuable suggestions for improvement were made for the website of the Tyrolean Wind Music Association.

The final presentation was a successful conclusion to the semester project, during which the entire team was able to present the results achieved. The project group completed their assignment within the specified time frame and documentation providing a detailed overview of the project process and the results achieved was handed over to the client together with the presentation. This serves the client as a valuable basis for targeted measures to further optimize the usability and structure of the Blasmusikverband Tirol website.
