Elias Brandecker, European powerlifting champion, during an interview in our Stories Behind Students studio.
European champion in equipped powerlifting, software developer, and part-time student: In the new episode of Stories behind Students, Elias Brandecker explains how discipline, technology, and studying at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol come together.
What began in a garage during the coronavirus pandemic led Elias Brandecker to the top of European equipped powerlifting within just a few years. Today, he is one of the most successful athletes in his class—and at the same time, he is consistently pursuing his academic career. In the new episode of Stories behind Students, he provides insights into a daily routine characterized by clear structures, focus, and mental strength.
What particularly appeals to Elias about equipped powerlifting is the interplay between strength and technique: special suits enable higher loads, but at the same time require absolute body control and precision. This combination—constantly working at one's own limits without exceeding them—is a recurring theme throughout his athletic career and personal development.
Elias is studying part-time at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol in the master's program Web Communication & Information Systems (WCIS, now: Web Engineering & IT Solutions – WES). He does not consider competitive sports, his job as a software developer, and his studies to be a burden, but rather a conscious balance. In the video, Elias explains why discipline is often more important than motivation and what goals he is pursuing next.
