Students of the part-time degree program International Business & Management during a company visit to Swarco's Traffic World.

Students of the bachelor's degree program in International Business Studies at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol visited SWARCO Traffic World in Wattens. The focus was on key questions of corporate management and how the company managed the transition from a family business to a global corporation.

Following a successful excursion in fall 2024, students from the part-time bachelor's degree program in International Business Studies visited SWARCO Traffic World in Wattens once again. This time, the focus was on the company's organizational structure and how it managed the transition from an owner-managed business to a global corporation. The students took the opportunity to ask the SWARCO experts their questions directly.

FOCUS ON TRANSFORMATION

Richard Neumann, Group Spokesman, and Markus Mitterecker, Employer Brand Manager, were on hand for an extensive exchange and answered students' questions about key challenges in corporate development:

  • Centralization vs. decentralization – How can local market knowledge and quick decision-making processes be combined with group-wide efficiency and economies of scale?
  • Strategy development and decision-making – What structures support a clear vision without losing entrepreneurial agility?

The SWARCO representatives provided exclusive insights through concrete examples from the areas of marketing and human resources, making the areas of tension tangible. The open atmosphere ensured a lively and very intensive exchange. The insights led from one exciting topic to the next, and the students' interest grew with every answer. Many questions could only be touched upon, demonstrating how much potential there is for in-depth discussion. For this reason, a follow-up meeting was arranged on site for the coming semester in order to revisit the outstanding issues, explore them in greater depth, and jointly reflect on specific strategic measures.

Tangible technology

As in the previous year, the interactive exhibition at SWARCO Traffic World offered an impressive glimpse into the future of mobility—as well as into the diverse product and service portfolio that is geared toward smooth traffic and increased safety.

The return visit gave students exciting insights into innovative transportation technologies and the organizational transformation of a global corporation. The practical discussions in particular provided valuable input and a deeper understanding of modern management challenges – an ideal complement to the theoretical lessons at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol.
