Participants of the 2nd fireside chat spend inspiring hours in the Kaiserlodge Scheffau on the topic of Generation Z in the company.
The fireside chats of the INTERREG project “Resilient Tourism” provide important impulses for the tourism industry. At the second fireside chat in Scheffau, the focus was on Generation Z: How can young people be inspired to pursue a career in tourism and how can they be retained in the long term?
The second fireside chat, held in mid-September at the Kaiserlodge Scheffau, focused on Generation Z: How can young people be inspired to pursue a career in tourism and retained by the company in the long term? Trainer Katharina Scharnreitner, an expert in systemic corporate management, hosted the evening. Together with the “Kaiserschaft” initiative, she organizes on- and offboarding days for interns in the region.
INSIGHTS Into THE GENERATION Z
Generation Z has grown up in a globalized world marked by crises and places a high value on work-life balance and flexible hours. They prefer companies that authentically represent their values and attitudes. In addition to job security and a family atmosphere, they seek meaning and recognition in their work. This generation values regular feedback and opportunities for personal and professional development.
A NEW CORPORATE CULTURE FOR EVERYONE
Participant Susanne Thamer-Walter, from the Tourism School at Wilden Kaiser, emphasized: “Appreciation is important for all employees. The interests of Generation Z are in everyone's interest; categorization is unnecessary.”
So it is not just Generation Z that benefits from a new corporate culture. A clear vision and mission that are lived out in everyday life, as well as transparent roles and responsibilities, are motivating for all employees and strengthen loyalty.
In exchange, successful best practice examples were presented: The onboarding and farewell days for interns at the Wilder Kaiser promote reflection and a sense of community. Companies such as Kausl Energiesysteme & Baddesign or Storz Heiztechnik GmbH rely on target group-oriented websites and personal social media presences to attract young talent. These best practices show how important it is to prepare information in a way that is both tailored and easily accessible.
The conclusion of the evening: Understanding and responding to the needs of Generation Z can not only increase their motivation and loyalty, but also strengthen the cohesion and resilience of the entire team.
