Director of Studies Asc. Prof. (FH) Dipl. Ing. Christian Huber with his 60 students of the bachelor's degree program Facility Management & Real Estate Management at the EuroFM International Week in Zuyd, Netherlands.
60 students from the Facility Management & Real Estate Management bachelor's degree program at Kufstein University spent an interesting week at the EuroFM International Week at the end of October.
This year, the theme of the International Week at the partner university Zuyd Hogeschool in Heerlen (Netherlands) was Meet the Youngsters and examined the attractiveness of a facility management company for young talent. The 180 students from the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Germany split up into small groups to analyze the job opportunities in a facility management company. They conducted street interviews with potential employees and developed solution strategies on how to improve job attractiveness in the industry. This challenging project took place in collaboration with Vebego, a facility management & services provider operating in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria.
CRITERIA FOR JOB ATTRACTIVENESS
The students identified key factors such as salary transparency, work-life balance, the design of an attractive workplace and opportunities for individual development and further training, which have a decisive influence on job attractiveness. The groups presented the results to the company at the end of the week, offering valuable insights for the future development of the industries.
THE PROFESSIONAL DIVERSITY OF FACILITY MANAGEMENT
In addition to the content of the task, it was very important for the students to learn that facility management covers a very wide range of aspects internationally. In addition to the more technical focus in German-speaking countries, facility management can also include human resources and service design. The International Week gave the students an insight into the diversity of this industry on a global level. Director of Studies Asc. Prof. (FH) Dipl. Ing. Christian Huber expressed his enthusiasm for the students' performance: “I am very proud of our students. They were very committed and quickly integrated themselves into the international groups with their social skills / competencies, which they also deepen in our degree program.”
CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION
This international week went beyond the technical task and emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation and the diversity of thinking in different countries. At the same time, it promoted the European idea and unity in diversity. The Kufstein University is already looking forward to the return of the Dutch students in February 2024, when they will be guests at the WinterSchool Sustainable Urban & Community Development. This year's theme is Public Spaces - Fit for the Future, and the students, including program director Huber, are looking forward to the exciting discussions and exchange of ideas that await them.
