Students gain valuable insights into human resources management. The online meeting with MPREIS shows how theory and corporate reality come together.
Direct insight into the corporate world – In the Management Techniques course, students deepened their knowledge through an online meeting with the HR department at MPrice. This gave them valuable insights into the procedures and strategies of human resources management.
As part of the Management Techniques lecture, students of the Marketing & Communication Management degree program had the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge through an online meeting with experts from the HR department at MPREIS. The meeting took place on March 27, 2025, and was led by Prof. Ute Mariacher. Sandra Eberhard, Team Leader for Personnel Development & Organizational Development, and Claudia Kosian, Head of Human Resources, gave presentations that provided valuable insights into the procedures and challenges of human resources management.
Instead of a traditional presentation, there was an interactive exchange in which students could ask questions and receive practical assessments. This provided a realistic picture of everyday working life and made the connection between theory and HR practice tangible.
FROM THE LECTURE ROOM TO THE WORKPLACE WITH FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCE
In addition to general aspects of human resources, the focus was on modern strategies for recruiting and retaining staff. The topic of employer branding played a particularly important role: companies need to position themselves clearly in order to retain skilled workers in the long term and attract new talent.
The challenges of recruiting were also discussed. The application process is crucial not only for companies, but also for applicants who want to stand out from the crowd. Claudia Kosian emphasized: “Be authentic and confident. Show your personality and check whether the company is really a good fit for you – this starts with a targeted cover letter.”
Another important topic was the induction of new employees. A structured and well-thought-out induction process for new employees plays a key role in retaining them in the company in the long term. The students learned which specific measures are important for successful integration.
The exchange on corporate culture showed that, in addition to clear processes, values and manners also play a decisive role. Companies that promote an open and appreciative atmosphere create a motivating working environment. The students gained valuable insights into how managers actively shape and live a positive corporate culture.
LEARNING AS A PROCESS: MAKING GOOD USE OF EXPERIENCE
Through direct dialogue, students gain a better understanding of the requirements of human resources management. The practical examination of current topics in human resources management helps to link theoretical knowledge with real business processes. The course impressively demonstrated how practice-oriented learning facilitates the transition to future professional life and strengthens the connection between theory and practical application.
