EFIM WinterSchool
The EFIM Winter School offers a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge in sustainability, energy, and real estate and establish new international contacts.
Within the EFIM Winter School framework, various topics are covered, including sustainability and energy management, real estate management, financing, and investments, as well as technical and social aspects. Over 200 students from international partner universities work in small groups on a project task for one week. Experts and coaches support the students in learning new ideas and approaches, researching, analyzing, sharing experiences, learning from each other, and expanding competencies. In interim presentations, the students showcase their drafts and ideas and receive feedback. Ultimately, they present a sustainable concept to a jury that evaluates the project and provides feedback.
Since 2012, the EFIM Winter School has been organized by the Facility & Real Estate Management and Energy & Sustainability Management programs. From mid to late February, students from the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein Tirol and various partner institutions meet on the FH Kufstein campus for one week. Before that, participants complete preparatory tasks and online learning units related to the respective project topic of the EFIM Winter School. Subsequently, the students prepare an analysis of the results and a comprehensive portfolio summarizing the experience.
Awards
The EFIM Winter School was honored with the Austrian Sustainability Award in 2014 for the structural embedding of the project. The award was given by the Ministry of Life and the Federal Ministry of Science, Research, and Economy. Moreover, the Austrian UNESCO Commission recognized the project for sustainable education as an Austrian UN Decade Project in 2014. Additionally, in 2018, the EFIM Winter School received the Austrian Sustainability Award for sustainable collaboration from the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism and the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research.
