37 submitted theses, four categories, and practical research findings: As part of the Excellence Award Banking & ESG 2025, Kufstein University honored outstanding theses—diverse in their topics and relevant for the future.

In early March, the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tyrol and Sparkasse Kufstein once again honored outstanding bachelor’s and master’s theses that were assessed with top grades in 2025 at the Kufstein Innovation Hub. The students addressed complex issues in the fields of banking and finance as well as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics. The topics ranged from feminist web messaging and sustainable travel to the analysis of value-at-risk models.

“The submitted papers cover a wide range of topics and combine scientific methods with clear recommendations for practical application,” emphasizes Klaus Felderer, member of the Executive Board at Sparkasse Kufstein and a member of the jury.

The awards ceremony began in 2022 as the Banking Award and was expanded in 2024 to include the ESG Award in order to address the growing importance of sustainability issues. Since 2025, both categories have been combined under the title Excellence Award Banking & ESG. The goal is to highlight pieces of academic writing with high practical relevance and to showcase innovative research from the degree programs.
