The groundbreaking has been set: a new student residence with 152 modern rooms is being built in Kufstein. Completion is planned for summer 2026 – an important milestone for our growing campus.
The anticipation at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol is great: with the groundbreaking last Friday, the construction work for the new student residence has officially begun. In the presence of Governor Anton Mattle, Mayor Mag. Martin Krumschnabel, other representatives from politics and business, as well as representatives of the University of Applied Sciences and the project partners, the first symbolic step towards completion was taken.
LIVING SPACE FOR TOMORROW'S STUDENTS
The new student residence is being built in close proximity to the University of Applied Sciences on the site of a former barracks. After its planned completion, it will offer 152 modern single rooms for students. To meet the needs of an urban, sustainable lifestyle, the offer is complemented by 49 underground parking spaces and 160 bicycle parking spaces.
The project is being realized by TIGEWOSI. Bodner is the general contractor responsible for the construction work. The architectural planning was undertaken by the Kufstein-based firm Adamer-Ramsauer, based on an urban planning competition that was won by the internationally renowned architectural firm Snøhetta. Despite the high requirements in terms of quality and sustainability, the preparation phase was particularly efficient thanks to the close cooperation of all parties involved.
The project is being financed by a combination of funds from the state of Tyrol, TIGEWOSI's own funds and a financial contribution from the future user. The FH Kufstein Tirol will use the building after completion, but formally remains a tenant and not the owner of the property.
COMPLETION PLANNED FOR SUMMER 2026
The construction of the new student residence is an important milestone for the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. In recent years, the number of students has risen steadily – and the demand for affordable and high-quality housing in the immediate vicinity of the campus is growing accordingly. The new residence will not only significantly expand the existing offer, but also create an environment that ideally combines modern studying and urban living. It is located in close proximity to the existing halls of residence, which makes it easy to integrate into the existing residential environment.
The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026. Until then, many tons of concrete will be moved – but the groundbreaking ceremony marked the visible beginning of an important new era for the students of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol.
