Dozens of Students were honoured for their outstanding academic achievements in the ballroom of the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences Tyrol. The merit-based scholarships recognise commitment, discipline and excellent academic results.

Alongside graduation, the awarding of merit scholarships is one of the highlights of the academic year at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. At the beginning of December, students, lecturers and university management gathered in the university's ballroom to celebrate outstanding academic achievements.

A STRONG SIGN OF RECOGNITION

The event kicked off with a welcome speech by Rector Prof. (FH) PD Dr. Mario Döller. He emphasized the importance of achievement and commitment in studies—especially at a time when success is often taken for granted. The merit-based scholarships not only express recognition, but also send a clear message: outstanding achievements deserve visibility and appreciation – including in financial terms.

The merit-based scholarships are financed by funds from the Federal Ministry of Women, Science, and Research. Around €15.1 million is available for this purpose throughout Austria, of which approximately €146,000 was distributed to the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. A total of 96 merit-based scholarships were awarded for the 2024/25 academic year.

Transparent criteria and considerable interest

The scholarships are awarded according to clearly defined criteria: requirements include a grade point average of at least 2.0, proper enrollment at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol in both semesters, and timely application. Scholarship recipients are selected based on an unweighted average of all relevant courses evaluated. Often, minimal differences in grade point average are the deciding factor.

A total of 480 students applied for a merit-based scholarship—96 of them were ultimately awarded the scholarship, and around 50 attended the award ceremony in person. The scholarships are worth up to €1,500 per person.

RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS

The formal presentation of the scholarships once again underscored the importance of achievement, discipline, and initiative in academic studies. The University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol congratulates all scholarship recipients on their outstanding successes and thanks them for their commitment.
