Students enrolled in the Master's program in Sports, Culture, and Event Management at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol took over social media management for the Kufstein Library (kubi). With creative content, reels, and book recommendations, they significantly increased the library's digital visibility.

As part of a practical project in the Master's program in Sports, Culture & Event Management at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol, students took over social media management for the Kufstein Library for Science and Leisure (kubi). The goal was to increase the library's digital visibility, effectively promote events, and reach new target groups via social media.

Accompanied by project manager Anja Gleichweit and in close cooperation with the library team, the students managed social media from November 2025 to February 2026. With creativity, clear planning, and authentic content, the three-person team from the part-time master's program succeeded in visibly strengthening kubi's online presence and bringing fresh impetus to the library's communications.

STRATEGIC FOCUS WITH SUCCESS

Social media efforts focused on posts and reels on Instagram and Facebook, which were used to promote upcoming kubi events and provide behind-the-scenes insights into the library. In addition, the team regularly published book recommendations to highlight the diversity of the library's offerings and actively engage the community.

The measures proved effective: the number of followers on Instagram rose by 3.4 percent to 431 subscribers. During the project period, over 2,000 accounts were reached and more than 23,000 views were achieved. Profile activity also increased by 9.5 percent compared to the months before the project began. Posts that focused on people were particularly successful - such as impressions from the kubi team's Christmas party or the social media team's personal book recommendations. This content achieved above-average interaction rates and confirmed the value of authentic, personal insights.

A total of around 30 posts were created. The material was produced on site at kubi during several content days. The team mainly used Canva and Edits for the graphic design, while Meta Business Suite was used for structured planning and long-term content management.

REVIEW AND LEARNINGS

The project team concluded that the most important lesson learned was that careful planning and good preparation form the basis for a successful social media presence. At the same time, the project showed that even simple technical equipment can be used to create effective content - when creativity, authenticity, and a clear strategy come together. Planning tools also facilitate forward-looking and efficient content management and offer valuable support, especially for smaller organizations.

With structure in the background and personality in the foreground, communication that gets through is created.
