During his internship in Berlin, Arian Gasser is gaining international experience - not limited to the classroom.

From Technical College to International Business: Arian Gasser is studying International Business Studies in Kufstein and gaining experience from Taiwan to Berlin. Here’s why the semester abroad and the practical focus are particularly appealing to him.

Even before starting college, Arian Gasser had already taken a keen interest in economic issues. After completing his technical training at HTL, his interest in global markets, business decisions, and the mechanisms behind them grew.

"Economics is a way for me to make sense of many global developments,” says Arian. Political tensions, business decisions, or social changes - many of these can be better understood through economic relationships. This perspective ultimately led him to choose a degree program with an international focus.

A PROGRAM WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS

Today, he is pursuing a full-time bachelor’s degree in International Business Studies (now: International Business Management) at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol - and has found exactly what he was looking for: a combination of a solid education, an international focus, and a strong practical orientation.

A key factor for him was the mandatory semester abroad. “It’s not an optional extra, but an integral part of the program,” Arian explains. His time in Taiwan was particularly formative: a new culture, new perspectives, and the feeling of transcending geographical and personal boundaries. “That’s when I realized that I could only have these experiences through my studies.”

EVERY EXPERIENCE HELPS YOU GROW - BOTH PROFESSIONALLY AND PERSONALLY.

But international exposure doesn’t begin only when you’re abroad. Even on the Kufstein campus, students encounter peers from a wide variety of countries. Everyday interactions, shared classes, and international friendships make the academic experience a global one right from the start.

PRACTICAL LEARNING, GLOBAL THINKING

In addition to the program’s international focus, what impresses him most is its strong practical orientation. In courses that involve partnerships with companies, students work on real-world problems and develop concrete solutions. “You’re not just working on theory; you’re delivering real value,” says Arian.

He particularly remembers a course he took during his year abroad, which focused not only on understanding market instruments but also on applying them directly to real-world scenarios. It is precisely this combination of analysis, strategy, and practical application that makes the program so appealing to him.

Formats such as management forums also play a role. There, leaders from the business and management worlds discuss current topics and challenges. “You realize that you’re engaging with content that’s truly relevant,” says Arian. Above all, the smaller-scale discussions have shown him how valuable it is to get actively involved.

EXPERIENCES TO REMEMBER

Arian is currently doing an internship in Berlin and is using this time to gain new perspectives - not only professionally, but also culturally. Every stop along the way - whether in Kufstein, Taiwan, or now in Germany - broadens his view of the world.

For him, international experience means more than just moving to a new place. It’s about being open to new ways of thinking, embracing unfamiliar situations, and growing from them. “Every experience helps you grow - both professionally and personally,” says Arian.

GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

He has a clear message for prospective students: “You should be willing to step outside your comfort zone.” Moving abroad and experiencing new cultures and environments can be challenging - but that is precisely where the greatest opportunity lies.

Those who take the plunge gain more than just specialized knowledge: they gain international friendships, intercultural skills, and a global network. For Arian, one thing is certain: his studies not only gave him a grasp of economics, but also showed him just how diverse the world is - and what role he can play in it.
