The judges of this year's Young Scientist Energy Award had the opportunity to evaluate the work of 75 graduates.
A jury of experts from the Energy & Sustainability Management and Facility Management & Real Estate Management degree programs once again honored young researchers with the Young Scientist Energy Award (YSEA) this year.
On Friday, July 4, the FH Kufstein Tirol once again presented the Young Scientist Energy Award. The prize, which has been awarded annually since 2017, recognizes pre-scientific work such as research papers, diploma theses, or seminar theses that deal with topics in the fields of energy, sustainability, and the environment and have been completed with care and meticulousness.
A total of 75 students from Germany and Austria submitted their work, up from 56 last year. A jury of experts assessed the entries and selected seven for awards.
The topics ranged from current issues such as the potential of wind power in Tyrol to projects against food waste and for the complete utilization of fruit and vegetables.
The difficulty for the jury was to pass the best projects from the wide range of good pre-scientific work. “We were fascinated by the different ideas and the diversity of the topics submitted. The students are addressing current issues and rising to the challenges,” said jury member and Director of Studies for Energy & Sustainability Management and Facility Management & Real Estate, Asc. Prof. (FH) Dipl.-Ing. Christian Huber.

Award ceremony in Kufstein
Students from a wide variety of schools, including Sankt Gotthard, Steyr, Bayreuth, and Zirl, traveled to Kufstein for the award ceremony. In addition to the prize money of €250, the FH Kufstein Tirol also expressed its appreciation for the work done at the schools. “The schools know exactly what content and skills / competencies they need to impart to their graduates and are very successful in doing so. A practical orientation based on a solid foundation of knowledge is evident in all of the submitted projects. We see this every day in our work with our first-year students,” said Christian Huber.
The schools of the award winners will receive recognition as YSEA partner schools 2025 in the form of a commemorative plaque.
