Visitors at the open house of the FH Kufstein Tirol – insights into the diverse program and campus.

Hundreds of visitors came to the open house on the campus of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol on November 30. But how was the event received – and what was the highlight for the guests? Here are their reactions.

Carolina from Leogang has already made up her mind and will study sports, culture and event management. “I wanted to take a look at the whole thing and get an overview. I also wanted to clarify a few questions at the information stands.” She is impressed by the atmosphere at the university of applied sciences: ‘The premises are really beautiful. The atmosphere is warm – and I feel very comfortable.’ She has nothing but praise for the open house: ”It is excellently structured. You immediately know your way around and it is very informative.”

YOUNG PEOPLE DISCOVER THEIR FUTURE

Maeva, who is from Fliess, is also very impressed. She would also be interested in a degree program in Sports, Culture & Event Management. Her decision to attend the open house was rather spontaneous. “I really like it here,” she says with conviction. “It would be perfect for me, I can tell you that much. And I can see myself coming here after I finish school.” She took advantage of the Open House to attend a sample lecture. She liked the fact that the lecture rooms are rather smaller – and that this results in a more pleasant learning atmosphere.

Valentina, from Hopfgarten, was particularly interested in the new Business Psychology degree program at the Open House. “I've always wanted to study psychology, and I'm also interested in economics!” So what could be more obvious than combining the two? She found out about the program at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences via Instagram. In the conversation, she emphasized the ambience of the city of Kufstein. ‘I have excellent knowledge of Kufstein,’ she reports. She also knows students at the University of Applied Sciences: ”They have reported very positively.”

PRACTICAL APPLICABILITY COUNTS

Leonie from Imst came to the open house together with Dominik from Längenfeld. “The first impression is convincing,” reports Leonie. Dominik is also impressed by the organizational procedures. “The buildings are very modern,” he explains. Leonie agrees with him – and points out the words of wisdom on the walls in the auditorium: “That's something different, not just bare walls.” Leonie is interested in studying Sports, Culture & Event Management. At the moment, however, she is still hesitating between a degree program at a university and a university of applied sciences. She wants to rely on her gut feeling when making the final decision. In any case, she thinks the practical relevance of the FH degree programs is “really good” – and she also likes the personal interaction between students and teachers.

Tom came from Munich just for the open house. “I found out about the event online,” he says. He sums up his impression of the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences so far as “almost perfect.” “I think the trial lectures are an excellent concept because you get a first glimpse of what a degree program might look like.” He still hasn't decided which degree program he would like to apply for. But he says that the picture has already become clearer during the course of the day. “I think I will apply for two degree programs – International Business Studies and Sports, Culture and Event Management.” He also mentions that practical relevance at the university is important to him: “In other words, not just sitting in a huge lecture room.” He would definitely recommend the open day, as he says in conclusion.

Nico has traveled here from Wörgl. The campus of the University of Applied Sciences is not completely new territory for him – “I once took a look at the International School Kufstein”. During the open house, he was particularly interested in the degree programs that focus on AI and business. He describes the atmosphere as pleasant and inviting.

ALUMNI REMEMBER: FAMILY ATMOSPHERE AND INTERNATIONALITY

Dietmar and Andrea from Passau came to the open house more by chance: the two are former students at the FH Kufstein Tirol. They studied International Business Studies – Dietmar in the master's program, Andrea in the bachelor's program. They met in a Spanish course in 2009. It sparked between them. They now have two children – and the family went on a trip to Kufstein on the day of the open house. So they were quite surprised when they passed the campus. But the surprise quickly wore off, and they spontaneously decided to visit the open house. “It's always nice to see what I've changed and to reminisce,” says Dietmar. He particularly remembers the family atmosphere – “how people took care of each other, that was very positive”. The international aspect has also left a lasting impression on him. “The internationality that is lived here, in the comparatively small university of applied sciences, that is quite something.” You can make contacts all over the world and gain experience from all over the world. This is a great advantage, especially for working in international corporations – the degree program at the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein is good preparation for this. “And all this in little Kufstein,” Andrea agrees: “You don't have to go to Munich or Vienna for that.”

“Walking back in after all these years – it gives you goosebumps,” says Dietmar. Andrea adds that she is still in touch with a few colleagues from back then. The couple also have a message for the prospective students: ‘Enjoy the time. You learn a lot – including things that are important for your later professional life.’ It wasn't always easy, Dietmar recalls the numerous essays. “My motivation was never at its peak.” Nevertheless, the way they worked in particular can be used later: ‘It's very valuable,’ says Andrea.

David and Larissa from Telfs were also impressed by the Open House. David is interested in the degree program in Facility & Real Estate Management, while Larissa is focusing on a degree program in Marketing & Communication Management. David has already gained some initial experience in this area – he is currently doing his school-leaving certificate in electrical engineering: “But I wanted to focus on the big, general picture.” They describe the atmosphere as “very welcoming” – “the professors and students both convey that”, David shares his thoughts. “Nice”, Larissa sums up.

Whether future students or alumni – the Open House left a positive impression on everyone and whetted their appetite for more.
