Opening of the Josef Ressel Center for Multimedia Analysis in Mobility on the FH Kufstein Tirol Campus
The FH Kufstein Tirol opens the Vision2Move: Josef Ressel Center for Multimedia Analysis in Mobility on the campus in Kufstein. Involved companies and partners met on-site to mark this milestone together and to learn more about the research priorities of the center. The research center, funded by the Federal Ministry for Labor and Economy (BMAW), addresses the challenge of traffic monitoring with efficient and effective processing and integration of the data generated on limited sensor units and operates in cooperation with Bernard Technology GmbH and Inno-Cube GmbH. The center's director is University Rector Prof. (FH) PD Dr. Mario Döller: "I am delighted that through the Josef Ressel Centers of the Christian Doppler Research Society, the excellent research at universities of applied sciences is made visible and supported. Cooperating with companies is one of our outstanding strengths, allowing us to support the innovative power of Tyrolean companies."
Ministry of Economics supports application-oriented research
Dr. Ulrike Unterer, Vice President of the Christian Doppler Research Society and Head of Key Technologies at BMAW, emphasizes the diverse application possibilities of the research: "Whether it's traffic guidance systems, combating accidents and crime, or even monitoring livestock in agriculture: the potential of computer vision is vast. However, it's by no means trivial for computers, algorithms, and artificial intelligence to "see" our world and interpret it correctly. A lot of fundamental research is still needed to exploit the opportunities in compliance with data protection safely and for the benefit of all. This Josef Ressel Center will make a significant contribution to this; I wish it every success."
Festive event at the Kufstein campus
Regional Minister MMag. Dr. Cornelia Hagele emphasized in her ceremonial speech the importance of the research centers: "The Vision2Move here at the FH Kufstein Tirol campus promotes those talents capable of tackling the challenges of the mobility of the future. Through close collaboration between researchers and companies, the research center will contribute significantly to implementing innovative ideas and strengthening the region's competitiveness and find ways to make the mobility of the future safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly." A get-together of all participants on the university's rooftop terrace with a view of the Kufstein Fortress rounded off the opening ceremonies.
