More than 200 graduates gathered at the annual HomeComing event at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol to network and catch up with old friends.

Over 200 alumni returned to the FH Kufstein Tirol. HomeComing 2025 not only provided an opportunity to reminisce and catch up, but also impressively demonstrated how vibrant the network between the higher education institution and its alumni remains, even years after graduation.

Shared laughter, familiar faces, stories from the past, and visions for the future – the FH Kufstein Tirol HomeComing 2025 was once again an atmospheric reunion that left a lasting impression. Over 200 guests accepted the invitation to the annual alumni meeting and transformed the Kufstein campus into a place of encounters, exchanges, and memories on June 27.

The anniversary celebrations began in the early evening with a party for alumni who had completed their studies or spent a semester abroad ten or twenty years ago. At 7 p.m., the campus opened its doors to all alumni, who traveled from near and far to revisit their University of Applied Sciences and catch up with each other.

PERSONAL ENCOUNTERS AND MEMORABLE MOMENTS

For Mag. (FH) Clara Thayer, a graduate of the first class of the Sports, Culture & Event Management degree program (2001), it was a very special moment: “Returning to Kufstein, remembering that time – we were the first students on the degree program, and our projects back then, such as the half marathon and the KuFa parties in the Kulturfabrik, not only shaped our degree program, but also helped shape the early days of event management.” Returning after many years – she now lives in Vienna – was like a trip down memory lane for her. It was particularly touching to see familiar faces such as Markus Bucher from the cafeteria, which was a fixture in her everyday life back then.

Homecoming is so special because you not only meet old fellow students, but also see what has become of the university.

Mag. (FH) Benjamin Schöne

Former student of International Business Studies

Mag. (FH) Benjamin Schöne, who graduated in 2001 with a degree in International Business Studies, also felt the special atmosphere: “HomeComing is so special because you not only meet old fellow students, but also see what has become of the FH.” For him, it was a reunion with influential personalities from his time as a student, such as lecturers Brent Kigner and Terence Foy. He particularly remembers the community spirit in Kufstein: “Our time at the university shaped us all – living and learning together in a city where almost all the students came from outside the area created an exceptionally close bond.”

A LIVELY NETWORK

Events such as HomeComing show how deeply rooted the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences remains in the lives of its graduates, even years after they have completed their studies. “Every year, it's wonderful to feel the joy of reunion among our alumni – both in the run-up to the event and during the event itself,” says Jennifer Könneker, BA, Alumni & Corporate Relations Expert in the event team and primarily responsible for organizing HomeComing. “This makes us proud as a higher education institution because it shows that our students have such a good time at the Kufstein campus that they still think back fondly on their time here long after completing their degree programs and look forward to seeing each other and us again.”

It is not uncommon for contacts made during HomeComing to lead to new career opportunities, project ideas, or collaborations. The University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol maintains long-term relationships with many of its alumni—some return as external lecturers, others contribute as industry partners, or facilitate contacts with companies. In any case, the network is alive and well.

This year, regional partners such as Gruber's from Angerberg and PURE, as well as Fotoschmiede Tirol, helped create a harmonious atmosphere. Sponsors STIHL, EGGER, and Schlumberger supported the event, which provided the perfect setting for personal conversations and shared memories with atmospheric music and culinary delights.

Whether as a place of remembrance, exchange, or a bridge to the future, the FH Kufstein Tirol Homecoming remains a fixed date in the alumni calendar. Stay connected – see you next year!
