INTERNATIONAL STUDENT RESIDENCE: STUDY, LIVE, FEEL GOOD

ISR's outstanding location, modern facilities and vibrant international community are just some of the school's many assets.
Finding a place to live is often one of the first big challenges for students. Viewings, finding roommates, contracts – all of this can complicate the start of a degree program. The International Student Residence (ISR) ensures that students can fully concentrate on their new phase of life.
ISR offers much more than just a roof over your head. Located directly on the Inn promenade, it combines an excellent infrastructure with a vibrant international community. In just a few minutes, residents can reach both the city center and the campus of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. Grocery stores, cafes, sports facilities, and even a direct bike path make living here particularly attractive.
ROMANA HUBMANN: THE GOOD SOUL OF ISR
Romana Hubmann has been managing the International Student Residence for ten years. She not only knows every corner of the building, but also the concerns of the students. “It is important to me that all students at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol feel welcome, no matter where they come from,” she explains.
This is particularly evident in the summer semester of 2025, when students from 25 different countries live in ISR.
FULLY EQUIPPED ROOMS
ISR consists of four buildings with a total of 175 beds and offers different living arrangements, from single and twin rooms to triple shared apartments. All rooms are fully furnished and have their own kitchenette with a refrigerator and stove, as well as a bathroom with a toilet. In the double studios and shared apartments, the rooms have their own separate locks.
In addition, modern communal facilities are available:
- Large communal kitchen with oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher and microwave
- Several roof terraces for chilling and studying
- Learning Lounge with PCs and printer, directly connected to the FH network
- Meeting area with TV, table football and a small reading corner
- Bicycle storage and a ski and snowboard room with ski safes
The different price categories result from the various construction phases of the four buildings as well as from the different living models offered – from single and twin rooms to the rare triple shared flats. For annual contracts, the rent starts at €399 per month, while semester and guest contracts start at €449. The most modern offer is the Single Comfort room with balcony, which is in the upper price range.
SECURITY AND SERVICE INCLUDED
ISR offers not only comfort, but also security and services that make life easier for students:
- Caretaker service – repairs are carried out quickly and reliably
- Several nightly security patrols to ensure that the night's rest is respected
- Resident manager as local point of contact
- Unlimited internet and Wi-Fi in all areas
- Heating, water and electricity are included in the rent.
Another advantage: ISR offers annual contracts instead of three-year contracts, so there are no brokerage fees and no time-consuming search for accommodation – students can move in immediately.
SUSTAINABLE DEMAND – AND A FAST BOOKING SYSTEM
The International Student Residence is consistently at 100 percent capacity – and demand is growing. “During the summer semester, the registration link goes online – and boom, we're full – which we're very grateful for!” says Hubmann. Here, the principle of first come – first served applies.
Interested parties can register for the upcoming fall semester as early as the beginning of January. Earlier registrations are advantageous because this is when the greatest chances of getting the room of your choice exist, which you can also select when you register.
Romana Hubmann recommends that prospective students who have not (yet) been successful in registering for a room should remain patient. In the event that ISR is already fully booked in advance, a waiting list is available. When rooms become available again, they are allocated in the order in which applications are received – regardless of the room category originally chosen. In concrete terms, this means, for example, that if you have applied for a single room, you may be offered a twin room that has become available. You then have one week to accept the offer, otherwise the room will be offered to someone else.
A final acceptance for accommodation at ISR is always dependent on successful admission to the FH Kufstein Tirol. Only when the higher education institution confirms that the applicant has been accepted can the ISR administration officially offer the room.
A HOME FOR THE PERIOD OF STUDY
In addition to its excellent location and high level of comfort, ISR is characterized above all by its pleasant atmosphere. “We have a very harmonious community here,” says Hubmann. This is reflected in the feedback from residents, who often express their thanks with small personal gifts such as homemade cards or personal messages and words of thanks. “It warms my heart,” she says, because it means that they felt comfortable and enjoyed their time here. Hubmann: ”And that's exactly what we want, since the time spent studying is one of the most formative experiences in young adult life.”
As Hubmann emphasizes, “But I can't take all the credit for this alone. It requires good teamwork and a strong team in the background that I can rely on and that has my back.”
Of course, there are also rules that govern life in a large dormitory. But conflicts can usually be resolved through discussion. “Sometimes you have to be a bit of a psychologist too,” explains Hubmann with a smile.
So if you are looking for accommodation with modern facilities, in a good location and with an international community, the International Student Residence is the right place for you.
