Study Project Continues the support of the Local LGBTQIA+ Community
Over the past semester, the Q+You project, executed by seven dedicated university students, created and implemented a series of vibrant and meaningful community events. They consisted of an LGBTQIA+ focused Karaoke Night, a Stammtisch discussing details of the upcoming Pearl Pride, and an exhilarating Pub Quiz.
Safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community
These events were not just designed as social gatherings but as a powerful platform for the LGBTQIA+ community. They provided safe spaces for members to express themselves, connect with each other, and foster a sense of acceptance and unity. The initiative also extended an invitation to fellow campaigners, supporters and the general public to encourage dialogue and understanding of the community in Kufstein as a whole.
The Q+You team’s passion and dedication were evident in their event organization. The Karaoke Night was filled with great performances, allowing everyone to share their talent and enjoy the night. The Stammtisch offered an opportunity to openly discuss various topics including the upcoming Pearl Parade with a member of CSD Tirol – the organizer. Lastly, the Pub Quiz added a sprinkle of competitive spirit, driving the participants to engage intellectually while having fun and learning something new.
Spirit of acceptance and celebration
„We believe our events were a success,“ says Zsófia Nemeth, the Q+You team lead. „They’ve brought together diverse groups of people in a shared spirit of acceptance and celebration. But most importantly, they’ve supported our belief that when we make an effort to understand and respect one another, we can create a stronger, more inclusive community.“
Q+You’s objective is not only to organize events but also to raise awareness and educate the public about the LGBTQIA+ community, its challenges and its strengths. The project serves as an educational tool, reminding everyone of the importance of diversity, inclusion and respect for all.
About Q+You
Q+You is a FH Kufstein university project committed to enriching the lives of the LGBTQIA+ community in Kufstein. It is a collaborative initiative led by seven university students of the Master's degree program Sports, Culture & Event Management. The project is passed each year on to another generation of students.
