Institutional evaluation 2010
On October 8, 2010, the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences was informed about its positive completion of the statutory institutional evaluation by the University of Applied Sciences Council (FHR), the competent authority for external quality assurance within Austrian universities of applied sciences.
The evaluation process principles (reviews) are in line with international standards (including the ESG—Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area) and other recognized criteria. The evaluation process is based on peer review, meaning it is carried out by a group of external experts that includes some students. Evaluations are generally open-ended and conclude with a report containing reviews and recommendations.
Full Accreditation 2012
All universities of applied sciences in Austria require accreditation by the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria (AQ Austria) in accordance with §22 of the University of Applied Sciences Studies Act (FHG) and § 19 of the Act on Quality Assurance in Higher Education (HS-QSG). Since March 1, 2012, AQ Austria’s tasks include carrying out quality assurance and accreditation of Austrian institutions of higher education. As such, it assumed the work previously carried out by the Austrian Agency for Quality Assurance (AQA), the University of Applied Sciences Council (FHR), and the Austrian Accreditation Council (ÖAR). AQ Austria is tied to the Quality Assurance Framework Law (OSRG). Included in OSRG is, among others, the new HS-QSG and a comprehensive adaptation of the FHG.
Accreditations and audits are quality assurance procedures pursuing different objectives and therefore focusing on different testing areas. Accreditation procedures are designed to monitor institutions or degree programs based on pre-defined (minimum) standards and award the temporary right to run a higher education institution or degree programs.
On May 9, 2012, the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol and all of its study programs received notification from AQ Austria about unlimited accreditation pursuant to §23 Austrian Act on Quality Assurance in Higher Education (HS-QSG). The University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol is one of the higher education institutions in Austria that has been institutionally accredited without further restrictions because of its positive evaluations in the past.
Quallity Audit
Due to its indefinite accreditation, the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences is legally obliged to undergo a quality assurance procedure (quality audit) every seven years. The audit reviews the institutional quality management in combination with single core and key areas of universities.
In Fall 2016, the first quality audit of the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences was successfully completed. Our university was also able to successfully complete its second audit in summer 2023.
The positive results prove that the University has functioning institutional quality management in place that is in accordance with the legal requirements (Austrian Act on Quality Assurance in Higher Education (HS-QSG)). In addition, the quality audit provides useful support in further developing the University's internal quality management system.

Program changes
Through the accreditation of degree programs, a higher education institution is awarded the right to offer degree programs and award students internationally recognized academic titles. A program accreditation is based on review of the curricula, personnel, material and financial resources and quality assurance of the individual degree programs (see § 23 of the Act on Quality Assurance in Higher Education).
